Gary W. Cawley, 63, of Elyria passed away Friday December 16, 2016 at UH Elyria Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Gary was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle and was a man of many talents. He retired in 2012 after 34 years if dedicated service to The Ohio Turnpike Commission. Gary was a graduate of Midview High School, a member of the Elyria Elks Lodge #465, Elyria Eagles Club and the Elyria Masonic Temple. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, motorcycles, classic cars and was a avid NASCAR fan, as well as being a fan of the the Cleveland Indians, Browns and Cavaliers. Throughout his life Gary was an advocate of all animals and leaves behind several beloved pets. Survivors include his best friend and wife of 28 years, Michele (nee-Bashak); children, Tyson (Chalse) Cawley, Nichole (Bob) Dugan, Dieken Cawley, Anthony Davis, Matthew (Sarah) Bennett and Robert (Amber) Cawley; 6 grandchildren; mother, Patricia Cawley; sister, Della (Jerry) Clowers; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Cawley. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held 4:00-7:00 p.m. Monday December 26, 2016 at the Elyria Elks Lodge 246 Second St., Elyria. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Friendship Animal Protective League 8303 North Murray Ridge Rd., Elyria or to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation 80001 Sweet Valley Dr. Cleveland, OH. 44125.
