Gabriella Darvari Hockman, 76, born on January 1, 1949, a beloved figure of Elyria, Ohio, sadly left our world on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at approximately 11 a.m. after a life

richly lived in service and kindness. She was known for her humor, kindness, and generous heart, and encouraging words for her love of the Lord Jesus, family, animals, music and dancing. Gabriella always brought smiles to family as well as complete strangers. She was a people person who enjoyed conversations, hugs and kisses. She was a beacon of light and hope in our lives and community. She had great impact on people's lives and will always be remembered.

She was a Hungarian immigrant who fled World War II with her Father, Emery Darvasi; mother, Yolonda Darvasi, and sister, Ildi Darvasi Guignette. She learned our language, completed high school, was an artist, an acclaimed art school wanted her to join. The school wanted her to join but she passed on the opportunity and became a fulltime mother in her younger years. Gabriella worked at different places during her time here. She worked as a clerk of courts for Elyria Municipal Court System and her last job was at Big Lots.

Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Robert Hockman; sons, George Guignette, James (Carolyn) Guignette; step-children, Joshua (Jennifer) Hockman and Chrissy Hockman; sister, Ildi Guignette; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, George Guignette.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2025 from 4 -7 p.m. at the Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Road (at State Route 57) in Elyria. Funeral Service will be Friday, May 16, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Reverend David Burman, Jr., Pastor of First Baptist Church of Elyria will officiate. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon.
