Fredrick A. Giese

Fredrick A. Giese, 82, of Grafton passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at The Cleveland Clinic in Avon. He was born May 2, 1944, in Elyria, Ohio. Fred spent his long career in Human Resource Management. He cherished spending time with family and friends, and he especially loved their Christmas Eve gatherings. Fred and his girls loved their tradition of canning tomato juice every fall. He proudly enjoyed cutting the lawn on his riding lawn mower, reading, and drinking Dr. Pepper. Survivors include his wife of thirty two years; Anna V. Dattilo, four daughters; Renee S. McQuate (Skip), April M. Foster (Craig), Kara L. Kaiser (Jeff), Allie F. Giese (Tyler Denny). Additional survivors include four grandchildren; Hayley, Kevin (Amy), Jacob (Mattea), Troy, and two great-grandchildren; Juniper and Lachlan. Fred was preceded in death by his parents Alfred William and Virginia Marie (nee: Ladd) Giese. The family will receive friends from 4-7 PM Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at The Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. Elyria (440)322-4626. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 1800 Station Rd. Valley City, OH 44280. The Reverend Father William Thaden, Pastor will be the Celebrant. Please meet at the church for mass. Burial will be in St. Martin of Tours Cemetery in Valley City.
