Frederick J. Sweitzer 85 early Wednesday morning November 23, 2016 slipped quietly into the arms of Jesus after a 2 and a half year struggle with Alzheimer's. He was an amazing man who lived a strong simple life-God, family , self. All who knew him will tell you he loved his Savior , emanating him in his daily walk. Fred was faithful and steadfast in his faith , in his work as a firefighter for Bridgestone-Firestone , and with his family. He was truly one of the kindest men to ever live and was loved and respected by all. He loved his wife Martha (Betty) deeply for their 58 years of marriage and is survived by her. He is also survived by his sons Mark of Punta Gorda, Fla. , Scott (Linda) of Sebring, Fla , daughter Alice (Mark) of Elyria, Oh. As well as 5 grandchildren and his brother Tom of Delaware, Oh. No Visitation. Graveside services will be held 2 PM Thursday December 1, 2016 at Greenlawn Memorial Park 2580 Romig Rd. Akron, Ohio 44320 , where full military honors will be provided by VFW post # 3383. A memorial service will be held at Southside Baptist Church in Sebring,Fla. shortly before Christmas. In lieu of flowers family suggests those who wish may make contributions in Frederick's memory to BBN (Baptist Broadcasting Network) or Highlands Hammock State Park in Sebring,Fla.- the place where he jogged and enjoyed the trails faithfully for over 20 years.
