Frederick W. "Fred" Armstrong, 67, of Lorain, passed away Thursday November 26, 2015 at his home following a 2 year illness. He was born August 12, 1947 in Lorain and was a lifelong Lorain resident. Fred worked for the Lorain County Domestic Relations Court for 30 years, retiring as comptroller. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lorain, served in the United States Navy and enjoyed spending winters at The Villages in Florida, golfing, boating, fishing, and playing softball. Survivors include his wife, Linda (nee-Hambly); son, Timothy (Jeanette) Armstrong of Lorain; mother, Dorothy Armstrong of Florida; step-daughters, Gayle Miller (Joshua Harter) of Wakeman and Vicki (James) Morrison of Elyria; step-sons, Scott Plas of Vermilion and Mark Plas of Elyria; grandchildren, Dustin, Katelyn, Brittany, Michael, Jayden, Lisa, Erik, Shelby, Tori, Casey, Herman, Brooklynn and Nathan; great-grandson, Charlie; brother, John "Rich" (Karen) Armstrong of New Baltimore, MI.; nieces, Traci and Melissa; He was preceded in death by his father, George and a granddaughter, Karlie. There will be no visitation. A Memorial Service will be Saturday December 5, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church 5100 Ashland Ave., Lorain. Pastor Gary Georgi will Officiate. Private burial will be at Ridgehill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp. In lieu of flowers Memorial contributions can be made to Zion Lutheran Church 5100 Ashland Ave. Lorain, OH. 44053 or to Camp Quality of Northern Ohio 1444 Mockingbird Circle Stow, OH. 44224. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. Elyria, OH. 44035.
