Frederick A. "Rick" Ahart, 67, of Elyria passed away Saturday September 10, 2016 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born June 28, 1949 in Sikeston, MO., and was a Elyria resident for most of his life. Rick worked in technical support for 15 years at Martco in Lousieville, KY., retiring in 2014. He served in the United States Navy during the Viet Nam era, was a member of the Elyria Baptist Church and was a member of the former New Life Baptist Church in Elyria until its closing. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Bonnie (nee-Bates); sons, Ricke (Tracy) Ahart and John D. Ahart; grandchildren, Aubrey, Ariana, Alexia and Brody; father, John P. Ahart; sister, Deborah Rising; brothers, Donald Ahart and John P. Ahart Jr..; step-brother, Jim (Diane) Stillion; niece, Wendy Parsons; nephew, Sam Parsons. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rhoda Mae Ahart and step-mother, Barb Ahart. The family will receive friends Tuesday 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. A Memorial Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday September 14, 2016 at the Elyria Baptist Church 276 Washington Ave., Elyria. Rev. Dr. Larry Q. Allen will Oficiate. Burial will be private.
