Florence Alice Lander (nee: Summers) 95, of Elyria passed away unexpectedly Saturday February 10, 2018 at her home in Carlisle Township. She was born October 8, 1922 in Ceylon, OH, the daughter of the late Vernon and Doris (nee: Daniels) Summers. Florence was a 1940 graduate of Huron High School. She married John Lander Jr. June 8, 1941 in Huron, OH., and they had nine children who were all raised to adulthood to become good citizens. She wanted all her children to know they have been very good and thoughtful to her giving her a good life. Florence was a member of Elyria First United Methodist Church since 1950, and her faith in God was a major part of her life. She was a homemaker, and especially enjoyed her family, was an exceptional cook, and enjoyed gardening and reading. She is survived by her children; Gary (Sharon) of Wellington, Barbara, Brian (Ann) and Carl all of Elyria, Marcia Molyneux (Mike) of Brooksville, FL, Dianne (Jerry) Miller of Cincinnati, Linda (Jerry) Owens of Monroeville, and David (Joan) of Sandusky, and a daughter in law; Lee Lander of Aurora. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and one step great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. Surviving siblings include Albert Summers of Sandusky, Betty Franklin of Norwalk, Carolyn Clouser of South Amherst, John Summers of Wakeman, Mary (John) Fritz of Huron, and sister in law Sally Summers of Berlin Heights. Florence was preceded in death by her beloved husband; John in 2005 after sixty four and one half years of marriage, and her eldest son; Dennis in 2016, her parents; Vernon Summers in 1974 and Doris Summers in 1955, and a step great grandchild; Cameron Owens in 2016, and siblings; Frances Malone, Charles Summers, Ralph summers, Virginia Summers, Marilyn Summers, and James Summers. Family will receive friends from 4-8 PM Tuesday February 13, 2018 at The Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57) Elyria (440)322-4626 where funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday February 14, 2018. Reverend Dalton Love will officiate. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Berlin Heights, OH.
