Faye E. Whitesel, (nee-Strickland), 80, of Elyria passed away Monday August 17, 2015 at Specialty Hospital of Lorain in Amherst following a brief illness. She was born December 12, 1934 in Elyria and was a Grafton resident for most of her life. Faye was a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Grafton and formerly worked in the custodial department for the Midview School System. She enjoyed camping with family and friends and traveling to the family farm in West Virginia. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Basil; daughters, Roberta Whitesel of Elyria and Lisa (Jack) Lowther of Amherst; sons, Doug (Mary) Whitesel of Grafton and John (Denise) Whitesel of New London; grandchildren, Greg, Thomas, Ian, Maggie, Amanda, Michaela and Nate; great-grandchildren, Emily and Evan; sister, Jean Whitesel of Grafton. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Strickland. The family will receive friends Thursday 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Services will be Friday August 21, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church 39888 Parsons Rd., Grafton. Pastor Joe Dossa will Officiate. Burial will be at Mount Pisgah Cemetery.
