Evalee Slone Holt stepped on shore and found heaven on December 24, 2021. Evalee was born in Raven, Kentucky on September 28, 1930 to Bessie and Elmer Slone.. She and her husband, Roy, along with their two children, moved to LaGrange, Ohio in 1953 like so many others in their family to find work outside of the coal mines. Evalee worked at LaGrange Screw Products and waitressed to help make ends meet. She loved the Lord with all of her being and was an active member at Church of the Open Door. She taught Sunday School, VBS, and Ladies Bible Study which gave her great joy. Evalee was also a member of the choir and a friend to many. After losing her husband of 49 years Roy twenty one years ago, she married John Holt. She loved to travel with John. Together they enjoyed church outings and family gatherings. Evalee has now been reunited in death with her husband, Roy, along with her sisters Jackie Slone and Mary Ramsey, and her brothers Paul Slone, Alex Slone, Omar Slone, and Jerry Slone all of whom she loved well. She is survived by her husband John Holt, son James (Linda) Slone, daughter Carol (Lou) Ignatz, grandson Tim (Rita) Broadhead and granddaughter Carrie (Steven) Krucinski, and her sister Minnie Forbush and brother Nelson Slone.A private funeral was held for close family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the Elyria Arts Council in her name.
