Eugene E. Heard III, 71, of North Ridgeville, set aside his working tools and passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. He was born in Elyria on January 23, 1954 to parents Eugene II and Doris (nee: Kolb). He was an Eagle Scout and worked at the Boy Scouts camp after graduation. Eugene proudly served his country in the US Navy as an aviation electronics technician. Eugene married his sweetheart, Edna, in 1980. He was a Past Master of Oberlin Mason Lodge #380 and the Frank S. Harmon Lodge. He also worked as a software quality engineer. During his time in the US Navy, he used his love of riding his bicycle to explore the foreign cities during his traveling. Eugene taught, shared, and worked on bicycles with his son, Isaac. He also had a passion for leatherworking, archery, and later in life, writing. Survivors include his sons, Thomas (Sarah), Isaac; sisters, May (Gordon) Rick, Janet (Art) Dennis; brother, Steve (Pam); grandchildren, Eleanor and Ezra. He is preceded in death by his wife, Edna (nee: Hornbeck) in 2023; and brother, David. Funeral service will be held on 3/18/25 at 11:00, doors open at 10:00, at Fields United Methodist Church 34077 Lorain Road in North Ridgeville. Rev. Sondra Snode will officiate. A private burial will take place at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio at a later date.
