Eugene J. "Gene" Presti 80, of Oberlin passed away Wednesday February 4, 2015 at UH Elyria Medical Center following a long illness. He was born May 29, 1934 in Shaker Heights, OH. Gene served in the United States Marine Corp. He was the owner and operator of Presti's of Oberlin a popular Italian restaurant in Oberlin. Gene was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oberlin. He treasured spending time with family and friends. Gene was an avid Cleveland Indians fan, and enjoyed cooking, golf and Oberlin Community Theatre. Survivors include two daughters; Michele P. Zimmerman (Kurt) of Oberlin, Mary C. McCain (Kenneth) of Avon Lake, a son; Paul V. Presti (Debbie) of Oberlin. Additional survivors include seven grandchildren; Marisa, Josh, Tony, Olivia, PJ, Devin, Maya,, and three great grandchildren; Harvey, Cameron, Maxwell, a sister; Josephine Koerner of Scottsdale, AZ, a brother; John Presti (Anna) of Scottsdale, AZ, and several nieces and nephews. Gene was preceded in death by his wife of fifty years; Rebecca S. "Becky" Presti (nee: Stockham), and his parents; John and Bessie (nee: Provenzano) Presti. Family will receive friends 5-7 PM Monday February 9, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 410 W. Lorain St. Oberlin, OH 44074 where a Memorial Mass will be at 7:00 PM Monday immediately following visitation. (PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH) Rev. Fr. Robert J. Cole, Pastor will be the Celebrant. Burial will be private at New Russia Township Cemetery where full military honors will be provided. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions in Gene's memory to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
