Estelle Marie (Koons) Ristas, age 90, completed her journey peacefully surrounded by family.

She joined her husband, Thomas Ristas, of 70 years in heaven, who passed in November of 2022.  Estelle attended Elyria High and was in the graduating class of 1951.  She was actively involved in the St Mary's church and the Curcillo Movement.  While raising four children, Estelle spearheaded the chapter of the March of Dimes in Lorain County.  She enjoyed ten years at the YWCA as their executive food director.  Certified in culinary arts, she also taught classes at Lorain County JVS. Upon retirement, Estelle volunteered and served on the Auxiliary Volunteer Board at Elyria Memorial Hospital. Estelle was most proud of being a homemaker, raising her four children, and spending time with her grandchildren.  She was antique picking before it was cool, loved decorating, and playing bridge.

Estelle is survived by her four children: Brad (Pam) Ristas, Gust (Pam) Ristas, Tanas (Mark) Wilcox and Benitta (Ed) Kohl.

Her grandchildren Adrienne, Rachael, Luke, Sarah, Samantha Jo, Alexandra, Gust, Duke and Lucy and 14 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday January 11, 2023 at The Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. Elyria (440)322-4626.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Friday January 12, 2024 at St. Mary Church 320 Middle Ave. Elyria. The Reverend Father Charles T. Diedrick, Pastor will be the Celebrant. Please meet at church.  Private burial at a later date.  Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105, a charity very dear to Estelle and Tom's heart.
