Ernest E. Metz, 83, formerly of Elyria passed away Saturday May 12, 2012 at Riverside Nursing Home in Bradenton, FL. Following a brief illness. He was born December 29, 1928 in Cleveland and was a Elyria resident for many years. Ernest worked at Servi Steel in Sheffield Village for 15 years, retiring as a supervisor in the plant maintenance department. Survivors include his daughters, Susan Boyette of Ona, Fl., Laura Lee Metz of Elyria, Patti Ann Matson of Bradenton, FL. And Amy Jo Metz of Ona, Fl.; sons, Ernest G. Metz and David P. Metz both of Strongsville; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sister, Georgia Frick of Arizona. He was preceded in death by his wife Wilma in 2004, sisters, Margaret Salzer and Ina Mae Nimon and a brother James Metz. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 16, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. 440-322-4626.
