Ernest J. "Jim" Brand 88, of Elyria passed away unexpectedly following a short illness at UH Elyria Medical Center on Thursday December 8, 2016. He was born April 19, 1928 in Elyria. Jim served in the U.S. Army and retired from Fisher Guide GM as a Tool and Die maker. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family, shopping, tinkering around the house and doing yard work. Survivors include his wife of sixty eight years; Shirley J. (nee: Pixley), three daughters; Marilyn J. Brand of Elyria, Marsha J. King (Doug) of Elyria, Barbara J. Corts (John) of Litchfield, a son; Michael J. Brand of Medina. Additional survivors include six grandchildren, a great grandchild, and a brother; George Brand (Barbara) of Florida. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; Paul and Mabel (nee: Woods) Brand, two sisters; Marian McClung, Ruth Brand and a brother; Paul Brand. Funeral services are 11:00 AM Tuesday December 13, 2016 at The Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd.
