Erla L. Brooks, (nee-Hist), 79, of Grafton passed away Friday April 15, 2016 at U.H. Elyria Medical Center following a long illness. She was born March 5, 1937 in North Ridgeville and was a lifelong North Ridgeville/Grafton area resident. Erla retired from the North Ridgeville City Schools where she was a teacher for many years. Survivors include her sons, Robert (Donna) Brooks of Grafton and John (Jill Vandygriff) Brooks of Spring Tx.; brother, Kenneth (Rita) Hist of Valley City. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Erla Richter. The family will receive friends Monday April 18, 2016 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Services and Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Friendship Animal Protective League 8303 North Murray Ridge Rd. Elyria.
