Erin Marie Matheson (nee: Lewis) 40, of North Ridgeville, passed away Monday May 6, 2024 following a brief illness at The Cleveland Clinic Fairview General Hospital in Cleveland. She was born June 22, 1983 in Elyria.

Erin was a 2001 Midview High School graduate and a 2006 graduate of The University of Toledo. Erin dedicated her life by serving others however she could, both professionally and in her personal life. She did this daily through her job as Senior Director of Development in Ohio and West Virginia for the American Cancer Society, where she worked with beloved colleagues and volunteers in supporting the mission of finding a cure for cancer. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Grafton and was a guiding force for the Helping Hands food pantry, which supports those in need in the community.

She was blessed with a quick wit and a whimsical sense of humor that was easily seen by everyone she met.  Erin loved being an aunt to her nieces and nephew and most enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. You would not find Erin happier than when she was sitting on the beach, with the ocean in front of her, and family and friends by her side. Erin enjoyed and loved to play soccer. She enjoyed watching her Cleveland sports teams, the Cavs, the Guardians, and the Browns, Ohio State football, and she was an avid reader.

Erin is survived by her husband of fifteen years; Greg, her parents; James M. and Diane M. (nee: Seabold) Lewis of Roanoke, VA., a brother; Thaddeus Lewis (Emily) of Cincinnati, her brother-in-law; Kevin Matheson (Barb), nieces and nephew; Liam and Lilli Lewis, and Isabella "Izzy" Matheson, her father-in-law; Tim Matheson, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Erin was preceded in death by her mother-in-law; Kathy Matheson (nee: Prentice).

The family will receive friends 4:00-8:00 PM Monday May 13, 2024 at The Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. Elyria (440) 322-4626, and from 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon Tuesday May 14, 2024 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church 708 Erie St. Grafton where a Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 Noon. Erin's uncle, The Reverend Father John P. Seabold, Pastor will be the Celebrant. Burial will be private at St. Mary Cemetery in Grafton.
