Emilia M. "Melita" Townsend, (nee-Zuirbulis), 92, of Elyria passed away Saturday February 13, 2016 at her home following a brief illness. She was born October 16, 1923 in Liepaja, Latvia and was an Elyria resident since 1952. Melita was known for her beautiful artwork, especially landscape paintings and enjoyed tending to her flower gardens. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Donald; daughters, Inara (Wilbert) Hayes of Elyria and Ina (Kevin) Young of Cape Coral, FL; grandchildren, Steven, Lisa, Julie, Kristin, and Matt; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren, and one brother. She was preceded in death by 1 sister and 2 brothers. A Memorial Service will be Tuesday February 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria where inurnment will immediately follow. The Rev. Chuck Behrens, Chaplain of the Hospice of the Western Reserve will Officiate.
