Elmer Piskuran 90 of LaGrange passed away Monday May 30, 2016 at Mercy New Life Hospice in Lorain. He was born April 1, 1926 in Elyria. Elmer served his Country first in the Merchant Marines and then in the Navy during WWII aboard the USS Haraden DD 585.. He enjoyed ballroom dancing , Golfing , bowling , traveling (18 cruises) and Love of family. Elmer was an electrician for IBEW local 129 for 40 years until retirement in 1988. Survivors include his daughters Barbara Stolz of Elyria , Joanne (Thomas) Janas of Elyria , Star Piskuran (Paul Smith) of LaGrange , 8 grandchildren , 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Geraldine (nee Moore) , sister Julia Suta , brothers Walter and Rudolph who was killed at Pearl Harbor Dec. 7, 1941.Family will receive friends 4-7 PM Thursday June 2, 2016 at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at St. Rt. 57) Elyria 440-322-4626 , where services will be held 2PM Friday June 3, 2016. Rev. Chuck Behrens chaplain of the Hospice of the Western Reserve will officiate. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery(Elyria),where full military honors will be provided by VFW post 1079.
