Rev. Elmer Muncy 87 of Elyria passed away Thursday November 17, 2016 at Amherst Manor Retirement Community following a lengthy illness. He was born May 15, 1929 in Wayne, W.Va. Elmer was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church. Elmer wrote the first City of Elyria Contract, and he worked for the City of Elyria as a Maintenance Supervisor. He enjoyed Yardwork , Vacationing with his children and was very active in his Church. Survivors include his wife of 67 years Mamie (nee Chaffin) , son Haven (Therese) of Amherst , daughters Judy (Dennis) Johnson of North Port, Fla. , Brenda (Carmel) Denney of North Olmsted , Vanessa Boggs of Amherst and Tonyia ( Jerry Jr.) Christian of Sandusky , grandchildren Lisa Love , Loretta Muncy , Eric Muncy , Christina Riggs , Dennis Johnson Jr. , Steven New , Jason New , Beverly New , Angel Reynolds , April Alferink , Ashleea Boggs , Alyssa Boggs, Princess Jett , and Jerry Christian III. Several great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends 1-4 PM Sunday November 20, 2016 at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at St. Rt. 57) Elyria 440-322-4626 , where funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday November 21,2016. Rev. Jerry Dempsey will officiate. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery (Elyria).
