Elmer G. "Bill" Garn Jr., 68, of Oberlin passed away Sunday at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland following a long illness. He was born August 21, 1943 in Clinton, PA. and was a Oberlin resident since 1979, coming from Bugler, PA. Bill worked as a truck driver for B.F.I. for 35 years, retiring in 1994. He was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church in Oberlin, was a NASCAR racing and Pittsburgh Steeler football fan, but his number one priority was his family. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Ina (nee-Weese); daughters, Jeanette (Victor) Spooner of Oberlin and Tracey (Brad) Lacko of Amherst; sons, Elmer G. III (Cheryl) Garn of Wakeman, Timmy Garn of Oberlin and Kevin (Marilyn) Garn of Amherst; 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret Prowl of Pennsylvania; brother, William T. Garn of Lorain. He was preceded in death by grandsons, Tyler Lacko and Curtis Garn, parents, Elmer Sr. and Helen Garn, and sisters, Shirley Garn and Thelma Weese. The family will receive friends Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at 1:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. 440-322-4626. Rev. Harley Belcher will Officiate. Burial will be at New Russia Township Cemetery.
