Elizabeth M. Holmen (nee: Hess), 94, of Elyria, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving children on December 13, 2025. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on July 10, 1931, to parents Walter and Elizabeth (nee: Bernbaum). She was a graduate of Western Reserve University. She worked at Stouffer's restaurants as Director of Food Management for 15 years and at Lorain Community Hospital, from which she retired. She also catered for the Elyria's Women's Club. She was a member of Elyria Community of Faith United Church of Christ. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.  She enjoyed baking cookies, creating family calendars and knitting baby blankets, which were distributed across the country.

Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth Ray (Mark); sons, William (Patty LaFleur and her dog Lola), Edward (Rocio Amador), sister Eleanor Aberegg; daughter-in-law Kimberly Holmen Lang (William); four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Hans in 2008; brothers, Walter and William Hess, daughter-in-law, Debbie Holmen (William).

Private services will be held at a later date.  Her final resting place will be at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst. Memorial contributions in her name can be sent to the Alzheimer's Association 225 N Michigan Ave. Floor 17 Chicago, IL 60601.
