Eleanor Victoria Polen (nee Patak) 88 of Elyria passed away Thursday September 15, 2016 at Life Care Center of Elyria following a lengthy illness. She was born November 22, 1927 in Elyria and was a graduate of Elyria High School. Eleanor was a member of St. Mary Church in Elyria . She enjoyed reading , Cleveland sports , bingo , bowling and especially her family. Survivors include daughters Carol (David) Malone of Elyria , Patricia (Geoffrey) Smith of Grafton , sons James (Sue) of Westlake , Donald (Patti) of Grafton , 8 grandchildren , 8 great-grandchildren , sisters Beverly of Grafton , Janet (Dr. Joseph) Sciarrotta of Avon Lake. She was preceded in death by her husband Samuel F. in 2002 , parents John and Pauline (nee Mocsny) , brother Jack. Family will receive friends 1-4 PM Sunday September 18, 2016 at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd, (at St. Rt. 57), Elyria 440-322-4626, where services will be held 10 AM Monday September 19, 2016. Rev. Fr. Charles Diedrick pastor of St. Mary Church will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery (Elyria).
