Elaine J. Behrins, (nee-Carruthers), 90, of Elyria passed away July 27, 2022 at the Norwalk Memorial Home following a brief illness. She was born December 28, 1931 in Sheffield Village and was a lifelong Elyria resident. Elaine worked at the former Bendix-Westinghouse Corporation as a secretary for 30 years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church where she was very active in various organizations. She also was a volunteer tutor for the Elyria City Schools where she was affectionately known as "Mrs. B". Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry F. "Sandy" Behrins in 1992 and brothers, Glenn and George Carruthers. There will be no visitation. A Memorial Mass will be Celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday August 9, 2022 at St. Jude Church, 590 Poplar St., Elyria. The Rev. Fr. Joseph Scalco C.S.J., pastor, will be the Celebrant. Christian Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Church Building Fund.
