Eileen May Doan (nee-Likens), 94, of Elyria passed away Monday October 29, 2012 at the Center Ridge Health Campus in North Ridgeville following a long illness. She was born September 16, 1918 in Edinburg, OH., grew up in Ravenna and graduated from Ravenna High School. She moved to Elyria from Wadsworth in 1955. Eileen was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Elyria and was very active with the First Church Women and Heights Circle. She was a past Elyria Elks Club Mother of the Year. She enjoyed being in several bridge clubs, her bowling friends, listening to music, singing and dancing. An Avid Elyria High School sports fan, she especially liked attending wrestling, volleyball, football and basketball games. Eileen loved going on fishing vacations with family to Temagami, Canada and her summers at their cottage on Sandy Lake near Ravenna. Her best times were spent with her grandchildren, playing games with them and watching them grow up. Survivors include her husband of 73 years, Russell K. Doan; daughter, Susan M. (Donald) Dobina of Louisville, KY.; son, Terry L. (Laurie West) Doan of Elyria; grandchildren, Tara Wilson (Aaron), Scott (Rachel), Jule, and Kevin Doan and Shae and Brad (Sarah) Dobina; 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Patricia (George) Hartle of Ravenna. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elery Albert and Mabel Emily (nee-Hollister) Likens, sister, Eleanore Sivon and brothers Elery and Earl Russell Likens. A private Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday a the First Congregational Church of Christ. The Rev. Christina Kukuk, pastor, will Officiate. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, Ravenna. In liue of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the book donation program at the Elyria Public Library 320 Washington Ave., Elyria, OH. 44035. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Elyria 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd., Elyria. 440-322-4626.
