Edward Messina 80 of Elyria passed away Thursday October 9, 2014 at Fairview General Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born March 19 , 1934 in Rouseville, Pennsylvania. Edward worked for Ford Motor Company for 40 years. He served his Country as a United States Marine. Edward was a member of VFW post # 1079 , LaGrange Hunting Club and Lifetime member of NRA. He enjoyed Gardening , Hunting , Fishing , loved to work on cars , but especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife Betty (nee Antoniewicz) , daughters Pearl (David) Monroe of Lorain , Theresa (Jeff) Fischione of Elyria and Barbara Messina of Elyria , granddaughter Christine Fischione and many nieces and nephews. Edward was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Anna (nee Hartel). Family will receive friends Friday October 17, 2014 from 10AM until time of service at 11AM at Resthaven Memory Gardens 3700 Center Rd. Avon, Ohio , where full military honors will be provided by VFW post # 1079.Rev. Fr. Charles Diedrick pastor of St. Mary Church will officiate. Burial will follow services .
