Obituary

Edward "Pinky" Jalowiec Sr., 94, of Elyria passed away Thursday May 5, 2011 at EMH Healthcare following a brief illness. He was born January 26, 1917 in Massachusetts and was a Elyria resident for most of his life. He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Elyria. Pinky was one of the co-founders and co-owners of Brentwood Golf Club in Grafton and also worked at LaGrange Screw Products for many years, retiring as a forman in 1981. He enjoyed pigeon racing and golfing. Survivors include his daughter, Sheryl (Dexter) Burgess of Elyria; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sister, Helen Zahorak of Lorain; brothers, Bernie Jalowiec of Lorain and Roman Jalowiec of North Ridgeville. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen (nee-Engler), sons, Edward Jr. and Neil, and brothers, Walter, Henry "Hank", and Stanley Jalowiec. The family will receive friends Monday 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. 322-4626. Closing prayers will be Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Jude Church 590 Poplar St., Elyria. The Rev. Frank P. Kosem, pastor, will be the Celebrant. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria. Online condolences may be expressed at laubenthalmercado.com.
