Edward C. Pilan

Edward C. Pilan, 87, of Wellington passed away Easter Sunday April 5, 2026 of cancer. He was born in Dilliner, Pa and graduated from Mapletown High School in 1956. He played sports in school and never lost his love of sports. He loved the Cleveland Indians, the Cavs and most of all the Browns. He had a passion for the Browns and would watch every game or attend at the stadium. After he graduated high school, he joined the Army and spent most of his military time in the Korean War. He was good friends with Ray Pileski {army buddy} from Elyria while in Korea. As it turned out when his cancer got bad he went to the VA hospital on Abbe Rd in Elyria and his doctor happened to be this friends daughter. Dr. Cassandra Pileski. Ed's family would like to thank her for everything she did for him.

Ed was the baby of 4 children born to his parents Chris and Theresa Pilan; sisters, Eva, Thelma and brother, Ted, all passed before Ed. He had 3 children, Anthony (deceased), Chris (Jeanette), Messy Halloran; 3 grandchildren, Nick, Mitch and Ellie Halloran. His wife of 66 years survives him. He will be missed by all his family and friends. Ed was a salesman for 30 years with Repco in Cleveland as an electronics distributor. He very much enjoyed sales. After sales he turned to buying, remodeling, renting and selling houses. He sold his last house the year he learned he had cancer. Family will receive friends Saturday April 11, 2026 from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. at Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Road (at State Route 57) in Elyria with service to follow. A private burial will take place at a later date.
