Edward G. Bahl 76, of Elyria passed away at home on Friday September 3, 2021 following a long battle with ALS- Lou Gehrig's Disease. He was born June 23, 1945 in Amherst, OH. Ed served in the United States Air Force, and had worked for E&L Transport as a yardman. He was a member of The Oberlin Masonic Lodge, and enjoyed playing golf, watching the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland area professional sports. Survivors include his wife of twenty three years; Marilyn M. (nee:Barlow), a grandchild; Shannon, three great grandchildren; Michael, Christopher, and Joseph. Additional survivors include three brothers; Kenneth Bahl (Rosa) of Elyria, Richard Berry (Edna) of Amherst, Alan Bahl (Sam Sun) of San Antonio, TX, a sister; Janet Ready (Calvin) of Wakeman, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Ed was preceded in death by his parents; Albert and Erma (nee: Johannsen) Bahl, two sisters; Beverly Mullinax, and Sandra Dunbar, and three brothers; George Berry (Jeanette), Robert Berry, and Ronald Berry. Friends may call 4-6 PM Thursday September 9, 2021 at The Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57) Elyria (440)322-4626 where funeral services will begin at 6:00 PM Thursday with The Oberlin Masonic Lodge, following by The Reverend Father John P. Seabold, Pastor of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, and conclude with V.F.W. Post# 1079 providing full military honors. Burial will be private at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio at a later date. The family suggests memorial contributions in Ed's memory be sent for Lou Gehrig's Disease/ ALS at ALS Association P.O. Box 6051 Albert Le, MN 56007.
