Edvwin E. "Gene" Rogers, 64, of Elyria passed away Thursday October 26, 2017 at Welcome Nursing Home in Oberlin following a brief illness. He was born September 7, 1953 in Berea and was a lifelong Elyria resident. Gene formerly worked at the Moen Corporation as a machinist. He was a member of Peace Community Church in Oberlin, a 1973 Elyria High School graduate and enjoyed bicycling, visiting parks and spending time with family. Survivors include his daughter, Janet Grimes; grandchildren, Madison, Hannah, Johnas and James; sister, Karen Barnard; brother, James Rogers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Phyllis Bailey and Pervis Rogers and a sister, Diane Osborne. There will be a Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m. Saturday November 4, 2017 at Peace Community Church 44 Lorain Avenue, Oberlin. The Rev. Steve Hammon will Officiate. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the church.
