Edna Mary Carpenter, (nee-Fugard), 77, of Eaton Township died Friday September 8, 2017 at Symphony at Olmsted Falls after a long fight with Alzheimer's Disease. Born in 1940, the middle daughter of Delmer and Edna Mary Fugard, she married Alan Carpenter in 1962. They operated a dairy farm in Eaton Township until his death in 2000. Edna also worked as a teller at Lorain County Bank and Premier Bank for 14 years. She filled many shelves and cabinets with her cow collections, volunteered as a 4-H leader, supervised the Midview football concession stand, loved to garden, bake bread and spend time with her grandchildren. She felt every challenge was a "character building experience". Edna was an active member of the North Eaton Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), serving on many committees and boards throughout the years, her favorite being the Church Fair Booth Committee. Edna loved to sing Tenor, as she sang in the Midview High School and North Eaton Christian Church choirs. The highlight of her singing carreer was being part of the barbershop quintet, Revelation. Survivors include her children, Julie (Tim) McDaniel of Urbana, OH., Polly (Peter) Tallos of Columbia Station and Mark (Kathy) Carpenter of North Ridgeville; grandchildren, Bryce, Colleen, Maggie, Alex, Erik and Karl; sister, Ellen (Ken) Liddington. She was preceded in death by her husband Alan, infant daughter, Susan and sister Peggy Knapp. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until services at 11:00 a.m. Saturday September 16, 2017 at North Eaton Christian Church 35895 Royalton Rd., Grafton. Inurnment will be at Butternut Ridge Cemetery, Eaton Twp..
