Obituary

Edith M. "Edie" Carroll (née Ternes), age 68, of North Ridgeville, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Monday, August 4, 2025, at Generations Senior Living in Berea.

Born on June 11, 1957, in Elyria, she was the cherished daughter of Melvin and Mary (née Murphy) Ternes. Edie worked for many years at Walgreens in the photo department, where her friendly nature and warm smile left a lasting impression on coworkers and customers alike.

Edie was a creative spirit who found joy in crafting, especially crochet and cross-stitching, creating beautiful pieces that reflected her patience and care. She was a selfless soul who always put the needs of others before her own, offering kindness and support to everyone around her. She loved being a passenger on road trips, enjoying the journey as much as the destination, and she embraced a life of simplicity, valuing the little things that brought her peace and happiness. She will be remembered for her love of Broadway musicals, her gentle heart, her humble way of living, and the love she shared so freely with her family and friends.

Survivors include her bonus mother, Marie (née Bickford) Ternes; son, Jeremy (Jeannie) Carroll; sisters, Marilyn Berg, Patricia (Daniel) Barone, Tracey (Joel) Petersen, Cindy (Glen) Thompson; brother, Mark (Stacy) Slack; granddaughter, Savanna Fintel; and eight nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Brian Slack; and brother-in-law, Tim Berg.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, August 9, 2025 from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. at North Eaton Christian Church 35895 Royalton Road in Grafton. Reverend David T. Chafin will officiate. Burial will immediately follow at Butternut Ridge Cemetery in Eaton Township. Edie's service will be livestreamed at https://www.youtube.com/@NorthEatonChristianChurch . In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Edie's name can be sent to the American Cancer Society P.O. Box 6704 Hagerstown, MD 21741.
