Earl M. Baker, 84, of Elyria went home to be with the Lord on Sunday June 2, 2013 following a brief illness. He was born June 15, 1928 in Burdine, KY. And was a Elyria resident for most of his life. Earl worked at the Ford Motor Company in Lorain as a repairman for 31 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Elyria, a United States Army veteran, and enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and listening to Bluegrass music. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Maxie "Pat" (nee-Coleman); daughters, Lynna Baker and Jane Holbrook both of Elyria; sons, Randy Baker of Terre Haute, IN., and John and Jeff Baker both of Elyria; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Phyllis Hall of Lorain and Thelma Stanley of Kentucky; brothers, Junior and Bobby Baker both of Virginia, Charles Baker of Elyria, Lonnie Baker of Burdine, KY., and Rev. Jimmy Baker of Elizabethtown, KY.. The family will receive friends Wednesday 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Services will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. The Rev. Jimmy Baker, Earl's brother will Officiate. Burial will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon. In liue of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Friendship Animal Protective League 8303 Murray Ridge Rd., Elyria.
