Earl M. Baker, 84, of Elyria went home to be with the Lord on Sunday June 2, 2013 following a brief illness. He was born June 15, 1928 in Burdine, KY. And was a Elyria resident for most of his life. Earl worked at the Ford Motor Company in Lorain as a repairman for 31 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Elyria, a United States Army veteran, and enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and listening to Bluegrass music. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Maxie "Pat" (nee-Coleman); daughters, Lynna Baker and Jane Holbrook both of Elyria; sons, Randy Baker of Terre Haute, IN., and John and Jeff Baker both of Elyria; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Phyllis Hall of Lorain and Thelma Stanley of Kentucky; brothers, Junior and Bobby Baker both of Virginia, Charles Baker of Elyria, Lonnie Baker of Burdine, KY., and Rev. Jimmy Baker of Elizabethtown, KY.. The family will receive friends Wednesday 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Services will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. The Rev. Jimmy Baker, Earl's brother will Officiate. Burial will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
