Douglas Paul Smith, 73, of North Ridgeville passed away Sunday, November 20, 2022 at his home with family by his side. He was born February 1, 1949 in Elyria and was a 1967 graduate of Midview High School. Doug was always building things usually of metal or wood, and enjoyed repairing small engines. He worked as a heating and air conditioning assembler for York Int. Douglas proudly served his Country  as an airplane hydraulic mechanic in the United States Air Force during Vietnam. Survivors include his son, Brian Paul Smith; sisters, Christine (Larry) Hechko and Leigh Ann (Thomas) Stefancin; brother, Gary Smith (Denise Sabol). He was preceded in death by his former wife Sharon (nee Thome); parents, Howard and Helen Smith (nee Podraski); sister, Carol Smith. Family will receive friends from 10 AM until time of Mass of  Christian Burial at 12 Noon Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church 708 Erie St. Grafton, Ohio 44044. Rev. Fr. John Seabold pastor will be the Celebrant. Burial will be private at St. Mary Cemetery (Elyria), with full military honors will be provided by Amvets post # 32.
