Dorothy M. Smith, (nee-Johnson), 93, of Elyria passed away Friday September 12, 2014 at the Elyria Wesleyan Village following a brief illness. She was born July 15, 1921 in Elyria and was a lifelong Elyria resident. Dorothy was a member of St. Mary Church in Elyria where she was very active in various ministries. She and her husband were members of the New Life Prayer Group serving in the teaching ministry and healing ministry. She loved music, writing poetry and painting images of angels. Survivors include her daughters, Barbara (Michael) Kelly of Elyria and Judith (Dennie) Kelley of Kansas, OH.; son,. Thomas (Libby) Smith of Oberlin; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Vanny Lindell of Elyria and Diane Nightengale of Arizona; brother, John Johnson of Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman in 2002, grandson, Danny Smith, and a sister, Mary Crowell. The family will receive friends on Monday 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Closing Prayers will be Tuesday September 16, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Church 320 Middle Ave., Elyria. The Rev.
