Dorothy D. Strinka, (nee-Matheny), of Elyria passed away on Friday February 23, 2024, peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family at the age of 89. Dorothy was born in Charleston, West Virginia on March 15, 1934 and was a resident of Elyria since 1957. She was a proud homemaker who was dedicated to caring for her family. She was exceptional at sewing and cooking. Dorothy enjoyed spending time with family and friends as well as participating in church activities. Survivors include her sons, Timothy J. (Cindy) and Terry Andrew; grandchildren, Cory Robert (Juliet), Rachel Sue Collins (Josh), Justin Dean and Brandon John; great-grandchildren, Nicodemus, Caleb, Josiah and Gabi; sisters, Juanita (James Hunter and Betty Isaac. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Robert J. in 2001, parents, Otsie and Ord Matheny, brothers, Ewell, Doug and Paul Matheny and sisters, Alline Utay and Rowena Smith. The family will receive friends Friday March 1, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at 1:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd.
