Dorothy F. Maloney-Elek, (nee-Adams), 84, of Elyria passed away Thursday August 17, 2017 at O'Neill Healthcare in North Ridgeville following a brief illness. She was born September 14, 1932 in Grafton and was a lifelong Elyria resident. Dorothy was employed as a STNA at Welcome Nursing Home in Oberlin for 25 years and enjoyed working crossword puzzles and writing poetry. Survivors include her daughters, Christine (Sam) Cagle, Susan Simion (Thad), Barbara Stiles (Darrell) and Theresa (Dave) Lanzi; sons, Jim (Evie) Maloney, Joe (Sharon) Maloney, Bill (Kara) Maloney and Patrick (Tracy) Maloney; step-children, Joyce, Bob, Tom and Tim; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Maloney Sr. and second husband, Robert Elek. The family will receive friends 4:00-7:00 p.m. Monday August 21, 2017 at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Specialists 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria.
