Dorothy L. "Dot" Boreski, (nee-Pitts), 91, of Elyria passed away Monday November 11, 2013 at Elmcroft Assisted Living in Lorain following a long illness. She was born May 29, 1922 in North Ridgeville and was a Elyria resident for most of her life. Dot was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Elyria, a former member of the former Holy Cross Catholic Church where she was a member of the Alter and Rosary Society, was a member of the Elyria United Polish Club Auxillary, and was inducted into the Elyria Sports Hall of Fame for Bowling and Basketball. She enjoyed playing softball and golf and also enjoyed spending time with her family. Survivors include her daughters, Janice (Michael) Serfozo of Amherst Twp., Diana (William) Hupchick of Elyria and Terri (Timothy) Bair of Martinez, GA.; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Eberling of LaGrange; brother, Thomas Pitts of Elyria. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter "Sport" Boreski, granddaughter, Laurie Martin, sisters, Arlene Krucinski, Clara Jane Linden and Olga Diedrick. The family will receive friends on Thursday 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Closing prayers will Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Agnes Church 611 Lake Ave., Elyria. The Rev. Albert Veigas, pastor, will be the Celebrant. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Agnes Church or to New Life Hospice 3500 Kolbe Rd.
