Doris Mae Zsigray, (nee-Jackson), 90, of Elyria passed away Saturday December 2, 2023 at Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake surrounded by her family as she was welcomed into God's Kingdom. She was born in Yorkville, Ohio on January 28, 1933, and worked 40 plus years at Elyria Memorial Hospital in several capacities but mainly as a LPN and even assisted with the birth of one of her grandchildren. Doris was one of the most caring and compassionate individuals you could have ever met. Family was the most important to her and spending time with family and friends is what she cherished. She had hobbies such as knitting, crocheting, bowling and sweeps. She was a gifted piano player and shared her gift for years at the Fuller Road Community Church in Elyria. Survivors include her children, John, Michael, Sharon (Rick) Sprouse, William, Patricia, and Richard (Julie). Thirty-eight grandchildren including great and great-great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Joseph Raymond Zsigray Sr., son, Joseph Raymond Zsigray Jr., parents, Charles and Irene Jackson (nee-Taylor) and was the last of her surviving siblings, Bill Taylor, Bob, Catherine, Harry and Richard Jackson. The family will receive friends Saturday December 16, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria which will be followed by a Memorial Service presided over by Chaplain Gordon V. Jardy, M. Div., DCS. Burial services will be at Calvary Cemetery, 555 North Ridge Road W. in Lorain.
