Dorene E. Dawson, 85, of Elyria went home to be with the Lord and her husband, Normand on Tuesday January 11, 2022 at Keystone Pointe in LaGrange following a long illness. She was born June 12, 1936 in Chicago, IL. And was an Elyria resident for most of her life. Dorene was employed as a clerk at the former Elyria Value City Department Store for many years, retiring in 1999. Survivors include her son, Tim Dawson (Marlene Shay); grandson, Jamie Hall, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Normand in 2009, son, Jeff in 2015 and a niece, Debra Lutch. The family will receive friends Tuesday January 18, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at 12:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. The Rev. Chuck Behrens will Officiate. Burial will be at LaPorte Cemetery, Carlisle Township.
