Donald J. Schnur, 70, of Romulus, MI. and formerly of Elyria passed away Saturday October 8, 2016 at his home following a brief illness. He was born March 24, 1946 in Elyria where he was a resident until moving to Romulus in 2001. Don worked as a United Auto Workers International Representative at the Ford Motor Company, was a United States Air Force veteran and a member of the Elyria Masonic Lodge #787, Elyria V.F.W. Post 1079 and the Elyria Eagles Aerie #431. Survivors include his wife, Colleen (nee-Mahon); daughters, Debbie (Dana) Torres, Barbara (George) Rossi and Michelle (Traci) Schnur; son, Stephen (Jennifer) Schnur; step-daughter, Amber (Jason) Hendrikson; step-son, Adam Charlton; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Nancy (Greg) Nelson; pets, Bella, Daisey and Jackie Chan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Florian and Ethel Schnur and brothers, George and Raymond Schnur. The family will receive friends Thursday 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57) Elyria, where members of V.F.W. Post 1079 will conduct full military honors at 6:45 p.m.. Burial will be private.
