Donald W. Schneider, 85, of Elyria passed away Saturday September 17, 2016 at his home following a brief illness. He was born April 13, 1931 in Louisville, KY. And was a Elyria resident for most of his life. Don Was employed as a sales coordinator at the Ford Motor Company for 30 years, retiring in 1987. He served with United State Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict, was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Elyria and was very active at the former Sacred Heart Catholic church in Elyria. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Mary Ann (nee-Winter); daughters, Victoria (Gary) Kayatin, Nancy (Steve Baker) Cuson and Joanna Schnieder; sons, Timothy (Lori), Drew, and Mark (Kim Ross) Schnieder; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Cecelia Sauter; brother, Rev. Fr. Ric Schneider O.F.M.. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy Gaffney, Marci Schneider and Jeannie Gravette and brothers, Rev. Fr. Bernadine, O.F.M., Rev. Fr. Christopher O.F.M., Rev. Fr. Aquinas O.F.M., Ken and Jim Schneider. The family will receive friends Thursday 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Closing prayers will be Friday September 23, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Church 320 Middle Ave., Elyria. The Rev. Fr. Ric Schneider O.F.M. and The Rev. Fr. Charles Diedrick will Con-Celebrate. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria.
