Donald E. Mejak 72, of Grafton Twp, passed away Tuesday August 29, 2017 at The Cleveland Clinic. He was born August 30,1944 in Berea. Don served in the U.S. Army where he learned refrigeration; later he became an electrician. He worked at Freezer Queen, NASA Glenn Research Center at the Icing Research Tunnel as a contractor, and retired from EMH in Valley City doing specialty electrical work. Don enjoyed spending time with his family, classic cars, scale modeling, tinkering and puttering in the garage; he was a talented woodworker, small engine repair, cooking and baking, the outdoors and was an animal lover. Survivors include a daughter; Kathy Allbright of Grafton Twp., a son Dan Mejak (Robin Lawson) of Columbus. Additional survivors include a grandson; Jimmy Allbright, two sisters; Mary Kay Mejak of Parma, Elaine Shoaps (Gary) of Newbury, CA. Don was preceded in death by his wife; Claudia (nee: Marek), parents; Stanley A. and Anne M. (nee: Witczak) Mejak, a sister; Carole Weiss, two brothers; Stan (Vivian), Larry. Family will receive friends from 1-5 PM Monday September 4, 2017 at The Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. Don's family encourages those with classic cars to drive their cars to the funeral home for services . Burial will be private at Belden Cemetery in Grafton Twp.
