Donald D. Bliss Sr., of Elyria passed away Sunday, September 25, 2022 at Keystone Pointe in LaGrange. He was born July 28, 1929 in Wellington. For over 40 years Donald was employed by Haury Manufacturing of Elyria, making ornamental iron railings for homes and business's throughout the area. He was also an avid fisherman and hunter plus he looked forward to his weekly Turkey Shoots with all of his friends at the Lorain County Coon Hunter's Club in Vermilion. Survivors include his sons, Donald D.  Jr. Bliss (Brenda) of Wellingrton and Ken L. Bliss (Pam) of Westerville; grandchildren, Donald S. Bliss (Lisa) of Wellington, Tammy Lottman (Dean) of LaGrange, Melissa Story (Scott) of Westerville and Jason Bliss of Columbus; great-grandchildren, Ryan Bliss (Megan) of Elyria, Robbie Bliss of Elyria, Ben Bliss of Wellington, Cameron Story of Westerville, Sara Story of Columbus and Asher Bliss of Columbus; sister, Janet Blair of Ashland and special friend; Nancy Lindsey of North Ridgeville. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years Marie A. Bliss (nee Gamble); parents, Laylin and Wannedo Bliss (nee Tedrow); brothers, Elwyn Bliss and James Bliss. Family will receive friends 5-8 PM Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at St. Rt. 57), Elyria, 440-322-4626, where funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday, September 29, 2022. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens (Avon).
