Dennis M. Moran, 83, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 6, 1943, in Cleveland, Ohio, Dennis lived a life defined by service, hard work, laughter, and unwavering love for his family and friends. Dennis proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, receiving an Honorable Discharge after four years of service in 1966. As a Vietnam War veteran, he was awarded the Purple Heart for his courage and sacrifice—a distinction he carried with quiet pride throughout his life. Following his military service, Dennis built a long career with General Motors, where he worked until his retirement. In 2000, he and his beloved wife, Barbara (Leslie) Moran, relocated from Grafton, Ohio, to Lake Havasu City, Arizona, where they enjoyed the sunshine and made many wonderful memories together.
Dennis and Barbara shared 37 loving years of marriage. Together they built a life centered around family, adventure, and simple joys. He treasured time spent camping, traveling, cooking for those he loved, and enjoying the outdoors. Whether he was casting a fishing line, playing a round of golf, or cheering on his beloved Cleveland sports teams, Dennis embraced every moment with enthusiasm. He never met a stranger and had a gift for making people smile. Dennis spent the final 3½ years of his life at O'Neill Healthcare, where he received compassionate care and formed meaningful friendships.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Moran Sr. and Sally Moran; his brother, James C. Moran Jr.; his beloved wife, Barbara (Leslie) Moran; and his cherished daughter, Lisa. Dennis leaves behind many dear friends and extended family members who will forever shared. His legacy of resilience, loyalty, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to gather in celebration of Dennis's life on Tuesday, August 11, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home 38475 Chestnut Ridge Road, Elyria, Ohio
Family and friends are also invited to join the funeral procession to the cemetery, where Dennis will be laid to rest with Marine Corps military honors.
A celebration of life will continue at Wolfey's Bistro & Pub following the burial service. Guests are welcome to join the family. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to O'Neill Healthcare, where Dennis called home during the last three and a half years of his life.
