Delcie Tarson

Delcie Tarson (nee: Hall) 92, of Elyria, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at O’Neill Hospice in North Ridgeville. She was born in Galveston, Kentucky on December 13, 1933 to parents Fred and Myrtle (nee: Keathley).

She was a loving wife, devoted family woman, and cherished member of her community whose life was defined by caring for others, a love of animals, and a genuine appreciation for the simple joys of life. For many years, she worked as a waitress, where her warm personality and ability to make people feel welcome touched the lives of countless people.

It was while working at a restaurant in 1955 that she met the love of her life, Joseph, who was a cook at the restaurant. Their meeting marked the beginning of a lifelong love story and a marriage filled with cherished memories.

In 1955, she was honored as the Vacationland Pageant title winner, an accomplishment she was proud of and a special memory she carried throughout her life. As part of the honor, she received a monetary gift as an award.She was deeply involved in the lives of children, taking great joy in attending their activities and sporting events and cheering them on every step of the way. Delcie was also involved in with her children’s PTA, and won a prize for her layout of the PTA Publicity Scrapbook. She was always supportive and encouraging, finding happiness in watching others grow, learn, and succeed.

A lover of nature, she found peace and satisfaction in gardening and caring for the many things she grew. Her compassion extended to animals as well. She fostered cats and enjoyed raising a variety of domestic animals, giving them the same patience, kindness, and nurturing spirit that she showed to the people she loved.Above all, she will be remembered for her caring heart, her devotion to her family, and the many ways she made a difference in the lives of those around her. Her love, kindness, and generous spirit will remain a lasting part of the memories shared by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her daughter, Delcie Jo (Charles) France; sisters, Lucrissie Jones; brother, Ned Hall; grandchildren, Jennifer Hemminger, Amber Tarson-Carter, Jessie Tarson; great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Michael, Gabriel, Ethan, Lucien, Chandler, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe, sons, David and Steven Tarson; sisters, Alma Griffith, Magdalene McNeal, Sarah Ann Jones, Pearl Keathley; brothers, Cecil and Dewey Lee Hall.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 from 10 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Road (at State Route 57) in Elyria. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church 41295 North Ridge Road in Elyria. Reverend Father Neil Walters will be the Celebrant. Burial at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst will immediately follow. Memorial contributions in Delcie’s name can be sent to the Friendship APL 8303 Murray Ridge Road Elyria, Ohio 44035 or the church.
