Deborah Ann Hutnyak (nee: Smith) 69, of Oberlin passed away Wednesday July 4, 2018 at Ames Family Hospice in Westlake following a long illness. She was born November 26, 1948 in Cleveland. Deborah was a North Olmsted High School graduate, and had worked in Development Research at Oberlin College. She volunteered as a Red Coat with Playhouse Square Theatre for over twenty years. Deborah was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Grafton, and enjoyed reading, the family cabin in Pennsylvania, television, and music. Survivors include her husband of forty eight years; Raymond C., a daughter; Cynthia A. of Oberlin, two sons; Daniel R. (Tatjana) of Minneapolis, MN., Joseph C. (Rachal) of Bedford. Additional survivors include five grandchildren; Ivy, Curtis, Maebh, Maxwell, Lepold. Deborah was preceded in death by her parents; Clayton and Alberta (nee: Wade) Smith. The family will receive friends from 1-4 PM Sunday July 8, 2018 at The Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57) Elyria (440)322-4626 where closing prayers will be recited at 9:30 AM Monday. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Monday July 9, 2018 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church 708 Erie St. Grafton. Reverend Father John P. Seabold, Pastor will be the Celebrant. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Valley City, OH. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions in Deborah's memory be sent to Ames Family Hospice 30080 Hospice Way Westlake, OH 44145.
