David R. Wickes, 66, of Oberlin passed away Wednesday May 12, 2021 at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland after suffering a massive stroke. He was born August 27, 1954 in Coventry, England, immigrated to the United States in 1977 and was an Oberlin resident since 1988. David worked as an engineer at the Webber Gage Company in Westlake for 37 years, retiring in 2016. Following retirement, he was a van driver and monitor for Keystone Schools. He attended Calvary Baptist Church, and enjoyed traveling, music, flying and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Laura (nee-Felix); daughters, Jessica (Kirk), Sarah (Steve) and Bethany (Jake); son, Aaron; grandchildren, Quinn, Erik, Betty, Atticus, Emmaline and Gabriel; sisters, Diane Morris and Vida Wickes; brother, Tony Wickes. He was also affectionately known as "Uncle Dave" by many. A Celebration of Life will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday May 15, 2021 at Calvary Baptist Churchy 114 Hope Ct., Elyria. Rodger Campbell will Officiate. Burial will be private.
