David P. Wainwright, 96, of Elyria passed away Wednesday April 17, 2013 at the Elyria Wesleyan Village following a brief illness. He was born September 4, 1916 in Elyria and lived most of his life in Elyria until moving to Florida following his retirement in 1978. He returned to Elyria in 2010. Mr. Wainwright owned the Wainwright Funeral Home in Elyria from 1946 until 1989. He was a member of the Washington Avenue Christian Church in Elyria, a longtime member of the Elyria Rotary Club, and a former, member of the Elyria Chapter of the Masonic Lodge, the Ohio Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association. Survivors include a sister, Nancy (Donald) Caldwell of Lakeside, OH; numerous nieces and nephews, and numerous great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Mildred in 2009, and a brother, Richard Wainwright in 1996. The family will receive friends Monday 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Services will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria. (PLEASE MEET AT THE CHAPEL). The Rev. Janet Long, Pastor of the Washington Avenue Christian Church will Officiate.
