David F. Tracey 81, of Elyria passed away at home on Tuesday January 17, 2017 following a long illness. He was born August 7, 1935 in Lorain. David worked as General Manager and Co Owner of Stang Motors in Elyria, along with his brother in laws; Jim and Bob Stang, until he retired twenty five years ago. He was a lifelong member of Elyria Knights of Columbus, attended both St. Mary and St. Jude Churches, and supported Elyria Catholic High School. David enjoyed owning race horses and rooting for them at Northfield Park, watching Cleveland sports teams, gardening, bird watching, and playing cards with friends. He owned a Christmas tree farm, and drove a Cadillac most of his life. All will miss his booming laugh. Survivors include his wife of fifty eight years; Marilyn A. Tracey(nee: Stang), four sons; Mark T. Tracey(Wendy) of Norman, OK, Craig A. Tracey(Kathy) of North Ridgeville, Todd T. Tracey of Oreland, PA, Alan J. Tracey(Sharon) of San Jose, CA. Additional survivors include seven grandchildren; Amy Fisher (Jim), Evan Tracey (June), Olivia Tracey, Drew Tracey, Jeremy Tracey, Aiden Tracey, Max Tracey, and one great grandchild; Levi Tracey. David was preceded in death by his parents; Joseph and Agnes (nee: Burns) Tracey, three sisters; Audrey Ballard (Bill), Irene Coates, Therese Glowaski (Ed), four brothers; Larry, Jack (Ginny), Ted (Helen), Bob (Erika). Family will receive friends from 4-7 PM Friday January 20, 2017 at The Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Saturday January 21, 2017 at St. Mary Church 320 Middle Ave. Elyria. Reverend Father Charles T. Diedrick, Pastor will be the Celebrant. Burial will be private at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
