David W. Shafer, 27, of LaGrange passed away Sunday at his home. He was born May 6, 1989 in Elyria and was a Grafton resident for most of his life. David worked as a manger at his family-owned Subway Sandwich Shops. He was a 2007 graduate of the Lorain County Joint Vocational School, was a member of the United States Soccer Federation and enjoyed playing and refereeing soccer as well as going to Cedar Point with his family. Survivors include his mother, Linda Shafer of LaGrange and sister, Megan Shafer of Elyria . He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Shafer on July 20, 2002, maternal grandparents, Willie and Doris Dodrill and paternal grandparents, Gale and Ida Shafer. Funeral Services will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday January 21, 2017 at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd., (at State Rt. 57), Elyria, where friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the services at 12:00 noon.
